John Kelso

I'm on the staff of the Virginia Tech Computer Science Department.  I spend most of my time over at the CAVE, mostly working on the DIVERSE project, but also taking care of pretty much anything else that comes up.  Here's my CV, in pdf format.

I got a BS in Math from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1976, and a MS in Computer Science from GWU in 1984.  I worked in the real world for ten years, designing and programming all sorts of now obsolete things, mostly having to do with interactive computer graphics systems.  I then got sucked into working at Universities.  I was previously with GWU's SEAS and UMD's Project Glue.

During my copious free time I enjoy hiking, camping, picnicking and almost any other outdoors activity.  I also enjoy hot & spicy vegetarian cooking, bizarre arts-n-crafts such as soapmaking, and puttering around the house.  When I'm feeling lazy I read anything I can get my hands on, or watch old reruns if I'm too pooped to move my eyes.  Hanging out with friends, loved ones, and Andrea, my wife of 8767 days, is real high on the list too.

John is now working in the Scientific Applications and Visualization Group at NIST. Contact: john.kelso@nist.gov
