Degree-Days The degree-day is a unit of temperature measure over extended periods of time. The equation used to find degree-days is: DD = (to-ta) (1 day) where to is the base temperature (usu. constant at 65º), and ta is daily mean temperature. 65º is used for the base temperature because it is considered to be the The number of degree-days for any amount of time for greater than one day is the algebraic sum of of all products for as many days as the period covers.
