This course is designed to provide an introductory understanding of the structure and properties of metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, and electronic materials. In addition, students will gain an understanding of design limitations of certain materials as well as of new classes of materials being developed to extend their usefulness. A laboratory demonstration will accompany lectures to elucidate the properties and structures of materials. Pre: CHEM. 1036, PHYS. 2175; Co: ESM 2004. (3H,3C).
