PV-WAVE Advantage

ObjectSuite

PV-WAVE is a Rapid Application Development Environment (RADE) array-oriented, real-time, interactive, interpretive 4GL programming environment that lets users develop applications to visually display, interpret, manipulate, and analyze large amounts of complex data. Functionality includes state-of-the-art 2D, 3D & 4D graphics, integrated analytical, mathematical, and statistical functions, animation, signal processing, image processing, volume-rendering, and GUI development. Version 6.0 is completely cross-platform compatible; meaning that an application written in WAVE for Windows 95 will run under UNIX, and vice versa. PV-WAVE also has a wide variety of toolkit options:

The IMSL Libraries for C, Fortran 90, and FORTRAN 77, are the world's leading development tools for technical applications. The libraries are user-callable subroutines for scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and business professionals who build applications to analyze and present data. The use of these professionally designed mathematical, statistical, and graphics subroutines lets C and FORTRAN programmers realize significant savings in the time and cost of developing applications. Exponent Graphics and the IMSL Fortran 90 MP Library are also in the IMSL software family. IMSL Exponent Graphics is an interactive graphics library of application-level routines for producing business and technical charts. For use with FORTRAN, C, and X application programming.

An efficient object-oriented approach to FORTRAN programming. Using Fortran 90 leads to much faster application development, by taking advantage of the following features: optional arguments, interface modules, array intrinsics, array syntax, and many more! Operators and function modules provide faster and more natural programming through an object-oriented approach. Interface modules for all user-callable Fortran 90 and FORTRAN 77 subroutines reduce development effort by checking data type matches and array size at compile time. Source code document examples allow a quick start to Fortran 90 programming via full Fortran 90 compliant code. Over 60 Fortran 90 coded, not translated, subroutines that feature redesigned algorithms that take full advantage of Fortran 90 features for efficient program execution. Finally, complete IMSL FORTRAN 77 Numerical Libraries are included so that no code modifications are required for existing applications that rely on the IMSL FORTRAN 77 Libraries.

Why labor over extraneous parameters in your FORTRAN programs when you can use the Linear Operators in the IMSL MP Library to simplify your programming with a more algebraic approach?

ObjectSuite is a family of C++ object-oriented development tools for mathematics, signal processing, and business charting. Ideally suited for object-oriented developers building business, scientific, and research applications, the IMSL Math Module for C++ includes a variety of precisions for: complex arithmetic, vectors, matrices, matrix factorization, splines, and random number generation. The IMSL Signal Processing Module for C++ greatly reduces the amount of code required to solve signal processing problems involving: complex numbers, vector and matrix computations, signals and systems (models and analysis), filter approximation, filter realization, transforms and spectrum analysis, statistical signal processing, polynomial manipulation, and random number generation. The IMSL Business Charting Module for C++ provides a comprehensive set of business graphs such as bar charts, pie charts, scatter plots, and 3D surface and contour plots. It is currently the only portable C++ OO charting package in the world.

Thanks to Visual Numerics Incorporated's extremely generous offer, selected software and manuals are available free of charge to anyone at Virginia Tech. Of course, nothing's ever truly free; you must fill out this form completely before we will issue the software (that's still pretty cheap!).

If you would like to review detailed product literature, please send a note to Ron Kriz. Just tell us what product(s) you're interested in and where we can mail the brochures.
